Tottenham launch £8M bid for Chelsea's Ben Haim

Tottenham are launching an £8 million bid for Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim.

The Sun says Spurs coach Juande Ramos is desperate for reinforcements in defence and Israeli ace Ben Haim is ready to call it quits at the Blues after an unhappy first six months at the club.

Chelsea's £8.9m swoop for Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic last week has confirmed to Ben Haim, 25, that his Stamford Bridge future is bleak.

With skipper John Terry sidelined with a broken foot, Ben Haim was hoping to get more first-team action.

But Blues boss Avram Grant's move for Ivanovic within hours of the window opening is a clear signal.

Tottenham chief Ramos has made sorting his leaky defence his No 1 priority having seen eight goals conceded in three games.
