Tottenham keeper Gomes: I will recover from howler - it will not be my last

Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes says he won't let last night's blunder against Real Madrid get him down.

The mistake was not Gomes' first in a Tottenham shirt. The Brazilian made a number of high-profile errors shortly after his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in 2008, but in fairness, he has performed well this season.

He admits he was to blame for last night's defeat, but knows he must recover quickly so his team-mates know they trust him as they set about the task of pipping Manchester City to fourth place.

"The ball moved a little bit but it was a mistake and I accept it," Gomes said.

"This was not my first mistake and I know it will not be the last one in my career, but I need to show character like I did before.

"I know I was so important for the club and I need to move on because they need me.

"We have a lot of big games coming up and I need to recover quick.

"It was a difficult moment for me but I have to look forward because I know how important that is for the team."
