The 21-year old winger picked up the entire Spurs outfit when they were 4-0 down against Inter Milan at the San Siro and almost got them over the line, scoring a sublime second-half hat-trick which has created a frenzy.
His teammate Gomes, who was sent off in the eighth minute of that match, is of firm belief that Bale could indeed be mistaken for a Brazilian by the way he plays.
"He is a great player and he showed it again. The team as a whole showed lots of character to come back from four-nil but Gareth scored three unbelievable goals," he said.
"When you watch him playing like that on the ball, he looks like he is Brazilian. And playing like that he would get in the Brazil team, I'm sure."
Spurs defender Alan Hutton was also full of praise for the in-form young gun: "Gareth's finishing is deadly. You might expect it from natural goal scorers like Jermain Defoe but Gareth has that in his locker.
"He has that magic touch for goals and he proved that again. The sky is the limit for him. To get three goals anywhere is good for your pride but to get three goals against the champions, in their own back yard, is special.
"Maicon is supposed to be one of the best full backs in the world but Gareth caused him all sorts of problems. I'm sure he can do that anywhere in the world but we're desperate to hold on to him. He's a great talent on the big stage."
