Tottenham are ready to bid for Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll. The Sunday Mirror says Tottenham will test Newcastle's resolve to hang on to Carroll in January with a £20million bid that will include Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane as bait.
The White Hart Lane outfit's success in qualifying for the Champions League knock-out stages has persuaded chairman Daniel Levy to pull out all the stops to try to land 21-year-old Carroll, also wanted by Manchester City and Chelsea.
And Spurs are prepared to use England striker Crouch and Republic of Ireland record scorer Keane as the lure to tempt Toon owner Mike Ashley, who has insisted that Carroll isn't for sale at any price.
But Spurs are hoping that Ashley, who has a close relationship with the North London club, might be tempted by a players-plus-cash deal which would give a big boost to the St James' Park coffers.
