Tottenham hero Adebayor saddened Arsenal fans ignored his past exploits

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is disappointed his exploits for Arsenal have been forgotten by a section of the Gooners support.

The big striker is saddened, though, that fans forget what he achieved for the Gunners.

Adebayor told The Sun: "I represented Arsenal for three years and scored 46 goals in 105 games. I am proud of that and will never regret my time at the club. Yes, I made a mistake at Manchester City when I celebrated my goal in front of the Arsenal fans.

"They were singing abusive songs then, but what I didn't realise is my performance and goal was enough retribution.

"I have since apologised and I sincerely hoped that we could draw a line under the affair. Sunday proved otherwise.

"OK, I understand that the Arsenal fans are frustrated at the moment and that losing to Spurs cannot be easy.

"But those chants won't ever have an effect on me. I've been through too many difficult times to let a minority of people singing silly songs affect my performance.

"I am a professional and I am now employed by Tottenham Hotspur, whether the Arsenal fans like it or not, I wish to thank all the true football fans for their support and maybe the old Emmanuel Adebayor would have reacted badly to the abuse.

"But if I can survive the bullets in Angola then a few mindless insults will have little impact."
