Tottenham have given Darren Bent the green light to complete his move to Sunderland.
The Daily Mail says Bent travelled up to Wearside last night to discuss personal terms with Sunderland after they finally reached agreement with Tottenham over his move to the Stadium of Light.
The breakthrough came after Sunderland improved their £14m offer which included a £9m down-payment plus add-ons. The new bid satisfied Tottenham's £15m demand for the striker, which had already been matched by Stoke.
Capturing Bent would make up for Steve Bruce's disappointment over losing out in the race for Peter Crouch.
