Tottenham go for Moyes target Ever Banega

Tottenham are eyeing Valencia midfielder Ever Banega.

The Daily Star says Banega, 25, had been linked with a switch to Manchester United, whose boss David Moyes is a big fan.

It was thought Moyes would turn to Banega if he missed out on Marouane Fellaini - but Spurs have other ideas.

They are set to sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for £86m and could use £26m of that to buy out Banega's release clause.

Moyes tried to bring Banega to Everton last year but the move fell through after Valencia pulled out of the deal.

He said: "He has very good ability and is a little bit similar to Mikel Arteta in lots of ways in that he can retain the ball and pass it."
