Tottenham are chasing Olympique Marseille wing-back Taye Taiwo.
Spurs and Benfica are battling for the Nigeria international.
Taiwo is currently valued at £5m and is keen to show he can compete at the highest level.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has already made a move for Everton winger Steven Pienaar and is now hoping to follow that up with the signing of Taiwo.
