Tottenham fullback Ben Davies has welcomed the appointment of Wales coach Ryan Giggs.

Davies grew up full of admiration for the Manchester United legend.

He said: “Growing up Ryan Giggs was the Welsh footballer, especially in my era.

“I was six or seven when he scored against Arsenal to help win the double (they went on to the treble)."

Neath-born Davies, 24, added: “I wasn't a United fan but having someone Welsh as good as he was and being left-footed like me, he was the one I looked up to.

“Getting the chance to work under is something I am looking forward to.

“Watching Giggs was great, trying to learn off him and to see the way he played.

“It was perfect for me.

“Being around Giggs and his staff will be a great opportunity to learn with his experience."
