Tottenham fullback Gareth Bale knows a fully fit Benoit Assou-Ekotto is a threat to his first team place.

His performances have drawn praise from all quarters, not least boss Harry Redknapp, who insisted that 'there can't be many better left-backs around' after the Bolton win.

But Bale told the club's website: "It's competition for places and that can only help the squad and the team. I will concentrate on my game and hopefully I'll continue doing well.

"I'm enjoying getting a run in the team and I just want to take it one game at a time, try to maintain my form and stay in the team."
