Tottenham fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto admits he doesn't have a boot sponsor - and isn't interested in landing one.
The Tottenham defender must be one of the few Premier League stars to shell out for his own footwear. And when one of his Nike boots split in training, he took to wearing a replacement from another pair.
And after his brilliant goal against Everton on Wednesday the odd boots are clearly working wonders. He told the People: "I haven't got a sponsor so I can't do what some of the guys do. They'd have rung someone up and got them to send new boots.
"Now I'm making it into a habit. I'm happy not to have a sponsor because I'd rather be free to do what I want."
