Tottenham fullback Adam Smith thrilled with MK Dons screamer

Tottenham fullback Adam Smith has spoken of his screamer for MK Dons on the weekend.

Smith struck a 35-yard piledriver in their victory over Rochdale.

"I don't even know why I hit it," he told the Spurs website. "The ball was under my feet, I got it out of my feet, short backlift and shot.

"It was just instinct, I suppose. I actually thought it was going over the crossbar but it dipped in at the last minute."

Adam sprinted straight to the bench after scoring where he was greeted by MK's delighted manager Karl Robinson and a familiar face to all at Spurs, Robinson's assistant John Gorman, our former player and assistant manager.

"At the start of the season the manager said 'I bet you don't score all season' and I took him up on that!" explained Smith, 20.

"It's something I've been working on. In fact, that week, I was working with John Gorman on my shooting. That's another reason I went straight over to the bench.

"To be honest, it's always good for a defender to get on the scoresheet. I think I should score more, really, maybe three or four a season."
