Tottenham fullback Adam Smith was delighted with his England U21 competitive debut this week.
He earned his first cap for Stuart Pearce's team as a substitute in last month's friendly win against Israel and followed up with a fine display as the Young Lions ran out 2-1 winners against Norway in their first match on a 4G artificial surface at the Marienlyst Stadium, Drammen.
"It was great to get my first start in a competitive match, rather than a friendly," he told the Spurs website.
"The match means more and there is that little more pressure, because you can't afford to lose.
"I thoroughly enjoy the pressure side to it though and thought it went well. Norway are probably seen as our biggest rivals in the group, so to beat them away was a great result."
