Tottenham have been encouraged in their pursuit of Barcelona striker David Villa.

Spurs are locked in talks with Barca and Villa's camp about a summer move to London for the Spain international.

Atletico Madrid are also keen on Villa, but El Mundo Deportivo says the striker has rejected an approach to open talks.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas talked up Villa's qualities last week.
