Tottenham intend to bid for Aston Villa star Ashley Young in January. The People says Young is a long-term target for Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and has told Aston Villa he is unwilling to sign a new deal until next summer, when he will have just a year left on his contract.
A swap deal involving Aaron Lennon is a possibility, but Liverpool are also keen on Young, 25.
Villa may be willing to sell in the mid-season window rather than risk losing him for less money in the summer.
