Tottenham are calling on UEFA to get tough on racists after disgraceful scenes at Inter Milan.

Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor was targeted during Thursday's 4-1 Europa League defeat at Inter Milan.

Inter fans aimed monkey chants at the Togolese hitman and waved an inflatable banana at him.

UEFA will decide next week whether to charge Inter for racial abuse from their fans.

Spurs defender William Gallas added: "UEFA and FIFA have to act. They have to understand what we feel out on the pitch.

"The best thing to do is to punish the people who do this."
