Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen is ready to be miss the Capital One Cup tie against Arsenal if manager Mauricio Pochettino decides to give him a rest.
Spurs will play their North London rivals in the third round of the Cup on Wednesday night and Belgian centre-half Vertonghen, although keen to play, understands a break may be beneficial.
Vertonghen said: "I want to play every game because I like to play football (but) sometimes it's better for me to rest. I think it's good that the medical staff and technical staff make that decision for you.
"You can still be fresh in March or April that way."
