Jan Vertonghen has hailed Tottenham colleague Hugo Lloris.

The French goalkeeper has been in brilliant form for Spurs so far this season and his defensive teammate Vertonghen has witnessed first-hand some of the exploits of the 28-year-old.

"Hugo is an unbelievable goalkeeper," the Belgium international told the club's official website of the gloveman.

"It's difficult for him because most of the game he has nothing to do and no saves to make but then out of nothing he makes maybe the best save of his life.

"That's why he is a number one goalkeeper."

Vertonghen and Lloris will be back in action together for Tottenham when they host Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
