Tottenham fullback Alan Hutton has called on Scotland's best to make the move to England.
Hutton believes that more players north of the border should join him in the Premier League elite.
He told talkSPORT: "It's massive [the gap between the SPL and Premier League], there are so many talented players at massive teams and week in and week out you're testing yourself. I think for anybody to improve as a player or go to the next level then England is the place you have to be.
"I think it's fair to say that the Scottish game isn't as high quality as it just to be maybe five years ago, maybe that has something to do with it [Scotland's poor form].
"I mean there are quite a few players down here [in the Premier League], if you look at both Fletchers [Darren and Steven] and they're doing well.
"It needs to come from a young age, when you look at all these others counties like Spain they are brought up to keep the ball, that's drilled into them from a young age, maybe we have to take a those national teams. We're going to have to start at the bottom and work our way up."
