Tottenham defender Dawson aiming to make up for lost time

Tottenham defender Michael Dawson is determined to get himself back on the pitch in order to get the most out of himself.

The 28-year old centre-back has had a horror time in recent years with serious injuries, culminating in the Achilles problem which kept him out for most of last season.

But now Dawson is on the road to recovery, he is keen to get back to the form that saw him earn a call-up to England's 2010 World Cup squad.

"I was fortunate to go to the World Cup and love representing my country, but I know that if I'm fit and doing well for Tottenham then hopefully I will get another call," he told Hostpur magazine.

"Now all I want to concentrate on is getting myself fully fit because I'm already looking forward to pre-season.

"Normally I rest for about three weeks during the break before starting to plan for the following term by keeping myself ticking over with some stamina work - but this time I'm going away to get myself fit throughout the summer.

"I'm determined to make up for lost time, have a good season and play lots of games. I'm single-minded in that because you realise how much you love the game when participation's taken away from you."
