Tottenham defender Bongani Khumalo is a loan target for Rangers.
Gers boss Ally McCoist is keen to bring the South Africa international north, but faces competition from Championship club Bristol City.
Khumalo enjoyed a successful loan spell with Preston last season before he picked up a metatarsal injury.
Tottenham assistant boss Kevin Bond said: "Bongani spent last season on loan and did well, and obviously when that happens a lot of clubs start phoning to enquire."
