Tottenham defender Bassong: Denied Defoe goal right decision
Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong feels the ref was right to cancel out Jermain Defoe's equaliser in defeat to PAOK Salonika.
Defoe fired in from inside the box while Pablo Contreras lay stricken on the floor clutching his leg, but the referee ruled it out for the foul on the Chilean.
Bassong told tribalfootball.com: "The referee turned to his official (linesman) who was telling him it was a foul (by Defoe on Pablo Contreras) and that's why he let the game play. Afterwards his official told him it was a foul so that's why he gave a foul (and not a goal).
"I wasn't even sure myself but the PAOK players were telling me and I thought fair enough."

Which demonstrates why you never get games for us, you are not a winner simply not good enough. You were at fault for both goals with your positioning, nowhere near marking the danger man in the box. The sooner we are shot of you and can get a decent defender in the better.
The most experienced defenders in Bassong & Gallas were pathetic. Danny Rose was also poor. Our overhaul stretegy for 4th place qualification needs to be addressed. In theory, we seem to have back up players to take over the reigns in the absence of our regular players. Practcally they have proven not to be.
We need to offload & recruit new blood in January.
