Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has accepted an international call-up from Cameroon.

French-born Assou-Ekotto told skysports.com: "I am happy to join the national team, I have been welcomed by everyone.

"I am proud to wear the great shirt of Cameroon. I know most of the players because they play in Europe, so let's enjoy myself."

The former Lens defender qualifies to play for Cameroon through his father.
