Tottenham enjoyed some good fortune in the official's decisions as two penalties contributed to a 4-1 defeat of FC Twente at White Hart Lane. For Spurs this was their first win in the Champions League and whilst the result somewhat flattered the hosts, boss Harry Redknapp will be unconcerned.
Rafael Van der Vaart had a penalty saved for Spurs before he made amends by putting his side ahead. An eventful night for the Dutchman ended with a red card.
Roman Pavlyuchenko converted a spot-kick to double the lead but Nacer Chadli pulled one back for the visitor's as three goals were scored in the opening eleven minutes of the second half.
Pavlyuchenko scored a dubious penalty to restore Spurs two goal advantage and Gareth Bale's late goal sealed the points in an eventful encounter.
