Tottenham in crowded field to land Standard Liege defender Mangala

Tottenham are attempting to land Standard Liege defender Eliaquim Mangala.

Tottenham are locked in a five-way battle to secure £4m rated centre back Mangala.

The French under 21 international, who plays for Belgian side Standard Liege, is contracted until 2013. However, reports in France suggest that Mangala would be interested in a move this summer.

L'Equipe claims Spurs face stiff competition from France and Italy. Cash-rich Paris St Germain, Lille, Juventus and Udinese are all interested in the star defender.

The 20-year-old has also been linked with Newcastle.
