Steven Pienaar has left Everton to sign a four-and-a-half-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur. The 28-year old South Africa midfielder has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park for some time now and finally completed the shift after passing a medical today.
Pienaar's move, which he confirmed on his Twitter page, is believed to be worth between £2.5 and £3million.
"To end speculation, I am going to Spurs. I've had brilliant years at Everton and it will always be a special place in my heart," he wrote.
He later added: "I can also confirm I'll be jersey number 40."
The signing was also confirmed on Spurs' official website.
"We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Everton and Steven Pienaar for the player's transfer to the club."
Pienaar could go straight into Harry Redknapp's squad for this weekend's league clash with Newcastle United at St James' Park.
