Tottenham midfield coach Tim Sherwood has hailed the current form of winger Aaron Lennon.

He said: "If you're looking for a right winger then there is no-one better in the country.

"He's got great pace, goes past people and his performance at Wembley Stadium against Manchester United's Patrice Evra, who is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, was fantastic. Obviously, Capello saw that and he has also been to a number of our other games where he has been outstanding, so he deserves to be in there.

"I have seen many left-backs this season who are booked within 10 minutes of facing Aaron and are left walking a tightrope for the rest of the game.

"They try to rough him up but he is not affected. That's a good thing about the boy - he can take a knock, get up and destroy them again."

Sherwood added: "The standard of wingers is great and I'm sure the manager knows what he's doing.

"He obviously likes the wide men and his most potent force is down the right with Aaron or Theo.

"Beckham is obviously a great player but Lennon gives you something different with his distribution because he goes past left-backs, takes them on and commits them."
