Tottenham are closing in on Espanyol defender Dani Jarque.
Growing concerns over the fitness of skipper Ledley King and the inconsistency of Younes Kaboul have persuaded boss Juande Ramos to spend another £8million despite just signing Jonathan Woodgate from Middlesbrough, says the News of the World.
Ramos wanted Jarque when manager at Sevilla and Spurs scouts have been spotted at recent Espanyol games.
Jarque said: "My opinion of Ramos and the Premier League is very positive."
