Tottenham are closing in on Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Jonathan de Guzman.

De Guzman, 27, was named player of the season for Deportivo last year and has been attracting interest from clubs in Spain, Germany and England.

Middlesbrough have also been tracking his progress, but Redknapp seems to be in pole position to clinch the signing of the Canada international.

De Guzman is out of contract with Deportivo in the summer and the Spanish club will not want to risk losing him on a free at the end of the season.

De Guzman said: "There have been some offers made from teams in Spain, Germany and England."
