Tottenham are eyeing Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

The Daily Star says reports in Portugal claim the north London club want to add the Brazilian to help form a solid core at Spurs, something boss Andre Villas-Boas thinks has been lacking so far this season.

Gustavo turn down the chance to move to Arsenal during the summer after the prospect of little game-time at then club Bayern Munich forcing him to look elsewhere for first-team action.

Choosing Wolfsburg over the Gunners, the 26-year-old experienced a shaky start to the term but has since gone on to cement his place in the starting 11.

Villas-Boas hopes to convince Gustavo to make a switch in January with the promise of maximum game-time ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
