Reading's veteran goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann is a target for Tottenham. The Mirror says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been exasperated by the inconsistent form of Brazilian Heurelho Gomes since taking charge in October.

The ex-Portsmouth chief now plans to bring in an experienced shot stopper in January to compete with erratic Gomes, bought from PSV Eindhoven in June for £7.8m. Redknapp's scouts have contacted agents for Hahnemann about a bargain switch.

The American, 36, is out of contract in the summer and would relish a move from the Championship to Premier League Spurs.
