Tottenham chairman Levy eager to secure King, Bale to new contracts

Tottenham pair Gareth Bale and Ledley King are set to be handed new contracts.

The Daily Mail says Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is keen to agree a new deal with both players.

King is out of contract next month, although there is an option in place to extend it by one more year.

Tottenham had hoped to restructure the terms, cutting King's basic from £60,000 a week and weighting the deal more heavily towards appearances because of his ongoing injury problems, but the 29-year-old captain's inspirational form in the last few weeks has strengthened his case.

Bale, 20, who has two years left on his contract, is expected to sign an improved deal and resist interest from Manchester United.
