Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is convinced he can persuade Harry Redknapp to stay at White Hart Lane.
The Daily Mail says The FA have made it clear that they will not disrupt Tottenham's Champions League ambitions by approaching Redknapp until the season has ended.
England must trigger huge release clauses in Redknapp's existing contract if they want to appoint him as Fabio Capello's successor.
Redknapp has a £5m transfer fee in addition to the remainder of his £3.1m a year deal left on a contract which still has 18 months to run. Spurs want to keep Redknapp and will offer him an extension, plus a significant rise in salary, as part of their plans to keep him from England.
Despite overwhelming public and media support for Redknapp to take the England job, he has told friends he doesn't know whether he would take the position if it is offered. That has given Tottenham chairman Levy an opportunity to make the first move in the battle for Redknapp's services.
