Tottenham chairman lauds boss Redknapp

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has heaped praise on boss Harry Redknapp after the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League. The achievement marks an impressive turnaround for Tottenham after Redknapp inherited a side battling against relegation when he succeeded Juande Ramos in October 2008.

"It is an amazing achievement," Levy told Sky Sports News.

"Harry and the players have done a magnificent job. It is fantastic for the club and obviously the fans. It is a real achievement."

Levy added: "I always knew Harry was a great manager. This is a team sport, clearly he has made a great contribution, but also credit needs to go to the team."

He said: "This is slightly different this time because we have been there most of the season in the top four and we all would have been really gutted if we hadn't achieved it."

Levy also acknowledges the financial benefits that the Champions League, which is estimated to be worth £50million to clubs, will bring as planning is under way to build a new stadium to replace White Hart Lane.

He added: "I wouldn't want to put a price on it but it is great news for the club, particularly as we are in the throws of considering building a new stadium."
