Dawson rejects talks of any psychological barrier among the Tottenham players, insisting that this season they remain confident of ending the 18-year gap since the club last finished ahead of Arsenal.
"I wouldn't say there's a mental block, definitely not," Dawson told the Mail on Sunday. "You can't think like that as players. They are a top team but look where we've come from in recent years. Last year was just unbelievable to miss out, the years before as well. We all start with the same number of points and you finish where you deserve to finish. It's a long old season and I tend to think you end up where you deserve to be.
"When you miss out with 72 points [as Tottenham did last season in a record tally for the club] you think how unlucky, but once we beat Arsenal the run they went on - 26 points from 30 - was unbelievable and you have to give them credit for that. It was certainly hard day to take when we missed out. Of course, it hurts. You put the whole year in working hard."
