Tottenham have broken their European hoodoo at Wembley by defeating Borussia Dortmund 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Son Heung-min opened the scoring in the fourth minute after being released by Harry Kane. The South Korea international, with poise, took on his defender and flashed a wonderful drive past Burki at the near post.

However, the visitors pulled one back shortly after through Andriy Yaramlenko, who curled an unstoppable first time effort past Hugo Lloris.

Four minutes later, and Harry Kane restored Spurs lead, becoming the first Englishman to score in three consecutive Champions League matches since Wayne Rooney in 2010.

Dortmund should have equalised on halftime, only for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal to be incorrectly called offside.

Kane then extended Tottenham's lead after 60 minutes with a clinical strike past Burki.

The match ended on a sour note for Spurs, with Jan Vertonghen sent off in stoppage time after an elbow on Mario Gotze.

The win however, was important for Mauricio Pochettino's side going forward as it marked only their second win at Spurs since 2009.
