Tottenham chiefs want manager Tim Sherwood to field record signing Erik Lamela in the final games of the season.
The Telegraph says Sherwood, the head coach, claimed last week that Lamela, the forward on whom Spurs spent £30 million, is unlikely to play again this term after suffering extensive injury problems.
However, Lamela is due to return to full training next week and there is a desire inside White Hart Lane for him to be handed a boost before the season finishes. Lamela's first season in the Premier League has been ruined by back and thigh injuries, and the 22 year-old has struggled to adapt to life in England.
Daniel Levy, the chairman, is desperate to see Lamela succeed and fulfil his potential at Tottenham next season and a run-out before the season ends could give the Argentine international a much-needed lift.
