Tottenham boss Sherwood rates Man City as title favourites

Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood feels they're playing the title favourites tonight in Manchester City.

City are scoring goals for fun this season - similar to the 1995 title winning Blackburn Rovers team which Sherwood was part of.

Sherwood said: "Anybody who finishes above Manchester City wins the League. Do I remember such a free-scoring team? Yes - I played in one!

"It's not easy to get a team playing like that. The manager has a clear vision of how he wants to play, he doesn't veer too much, he doesn't worry about the opposition.

"We never changed our system at Blackburn to accommodate anyone and Pellegrini isn't doing that either. They train like that every day. They have acquired players to fit that system.

"Were teams scared of Blackburn? Absolutely. They got everyone behind the ball and they were just waiting to get beaten.

"I have never been a believer in doing that. You can have a lot of people behind the ball and get hammered. You need to have your own attacking threats.

"Teams did shut Blackburn down. They stopped us scoring. But it helped them to push us back.

"That sends your full-backs and your midfield back and makes you defend - and there are no more attacking full-backs in the league than City's two.

"I haven't heard my players talk to me about the 6-0. But I am sure it would be on their minds if they have professional pride. To get beat is one thing, but to get done by six is a real blow."
