Tottenham boss Redknapp: We made huge offer for Man Utd defender Jones

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits he tried to sign Manchester United defender Phil Jones.

Spurs are at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Redknapp said: “Manchester United seem to have injury problems in defence but they have Phil Jones to come in.

“He is a fantastic young player. Everybody tried to sign him. We all offered £16m. He has the lot.

“True, we haven’t got a great record at Manchester United but who has? I think they only drew one game last season and they led two-nil in that one against West Brom."
