Tottenham boss Redknapp trying to clinch striker deal before deadline

After missing out on Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is reportedly moving quickly to bring in a striker before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline. The Spurs boss has been linked with a number of names including Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi, Athletic Bilbao's Fernando Llorente and Sevilla's Alvaro Negredo but admits that none of this trio will landing at White Hart Lane as he continues his search.

"Rossi is a fantastic player but I wouldn't have thought so. Negredo is a top player. Llorente? We'd have all of them. They would improve us but I can't see any of them being here," Redknapp added.

Reports emanating from Spain also suggest that Redknapp had turned his attention to Aguero's teammate Diego Forlan by coming in with a £17million bid but that now looks unlikely to occur.
