Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has challenged David Bentley to prove his worth in their Carling Cup tie with Everton.

Redknapp will hand his fringe players, including Bentley, a chance to show what they can do against Everton.

"When the chance comes, they've got to take it. I can only pick the players in the squad who I feel deserve to be in the team. It's been difficult for players like David Bentley, but he has to keep working and try to get back in. Every good football club has to have a squad.

"Aaron Lennon has picked up an injury, so it could be a chance for David to show what he can do. He has to come in and do it."
