Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp retains hope of keeping hold of on-loan Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Redknapp would love to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of the season if they can find a way to afford his huge wages.

Redknapp said: "I just like to let him know how important he is to us and talk to him about it. He's so key to us and we all love a pat on the back. You get more out of that than to get a b******ing every time you do something wrong! He looks like he enjoys being here."
