Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp wants to hang onto winger Giovani dos Santos.
The attacking midfielder is widely expected to leave Tottenham this summer, but after enjoying an impressive World Cup campaign, he is full of renewed hope over his immediate future in North London.
Dos Santos, 21, will head back to Spurs for pre-season and tell Redknapp he wants to stay and fight for his place - because he does not want to be remembered as an English flop.
He said: "Perhaps I arrived at the World Cup in my best moment of the season. I have always believed in myself and am satisfied with how well I've done out in South Africa.
"During my time at Spurs I just haven't had any luck. There have been injury setbacks, difficulties adapting, and few chances from the coach.
"But I feel I have matured and I am still very ambitious. When I left Barcelona my dream was to be a success in the Premier League - and I still think that is possible.
"I have a good relationship with Harry Redknapp, with all the coaches, so I'm not going to head back there looking for controversy. I'll accept their decisions.
"But I just think I can prove myself here with some patience and opportunities. I need to speak to the club to understand how they look at me - but ideally I want to stay."
