Tottenham boss Redknapp: Parker our Terry, Carragher

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits he's delighted with the impact of Scott Parker.

The 30-year-old midfielder moved from West Ham United to Tottenham in the summer, and the White Hart Lane boss believes he is like a throwback to the old days.

He said: "Scott Parker is a dying breed. Years ago every club had two or three of them in the team - lads you could rely on, they'd run the dressing room, you could talk to them, they understood the game and would go out every week and do a job for you on the pitch.

"Whether it was at Arsenal with Frank McLintock or Billy Bonds at West Ham, every team had characters who ran the club, and Scotty is one of them.

"It's like Jamie Carragher at Liverpool and John Terry at Chelsea. There's one of two of them around, but not many, and we've got one now with Scott. We're lucky."
