Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is delighted with the impact fringe players Gareth Bale and David Bentley have made since the New Year.

In the near future, both Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Aaron Lennon will be ready for their respective returns - but left-back Bale and winger Bentley have excelled in their absence.

"Both Gareth and David will be playing for their places now," said Redknapp. "David has done well and he has worked hard.

"Gareth has been fantastic, top class. He has toughened up and his defending is better.

"There aren't many better left-backs in the country at the moment."
