Tottenham boss Redknapp: No chance of keeping Pavlyuchenko happy

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits he can't keep Roman Pavlyuchenko "happy".

When asked if the goal against Rubin Kazan made it difficult to leave Pavlyuchenko out, Redknapp's response was uncompromising.

"No, not really," said Redknapp. "I have got good competition up front. Jermain Defoe scored a good goal last week. Manu Adebayor's been on good form. It's what they are paid to do. When they play they have to take their chance."

So can Redknapp keep Pavlyuchenko happy? "He's never happy really," he continued. "I don't think I can keep him happy.

"He is a good lad and gets on with it. He puts it in every game, at home, away from home. He is a top player, there is no doubt about that. When he is on his game he is a fantastic player. He has got great ability and power in his shooting.

"But I can only pick the people I think deserve to play. That is what I do. If I get it right, I am clever. If I get it wrong, I take the blame, don't I?

"Adebayor has been excellent leading the line and the biggest problem I have had is whether I have Rafa van der Vaart or Defoe with him. Van der Vaart scored in the last three games. Defoe scored Sunday. Pav scored. So it's good."
