Tottenham boss Redknapp: My lot would turn over El Tel's team

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp this is the club's best team of modern times.

The last great side to run around at White Hart Lane was Terry Venables' team of the 1990s.

Redknapp declared: "I remember that Tottenham team. But surely anyone would fancy this present-day side to be stronger than that team who finished third in 1990.

"There is enough experience and ability to beat that 1990 line-up.

"We have some outstanding players - Gareth Bale is up there with the best. There aren't too many Bales around and there is quality throughout my team.

"It was a good Tottenham team back then but I feel my side would be better and that means we shouldn't fear anybody this year.

"We have proved that in the last 18 games. The run we have been on has shown we can go anywhere and play against anybody.

"Now we have to show it again in the final 18 games.

"Of course the team back then had some really special players, like Gazza and Gary Lineker. What a pair of match-winners they were. No manager would mind having those two. They'd be a couple of good signings in this January transfer window!

"But I'm pretty sure my team would see the others off. It would be a great game, though!"
