Tottenham boss Redknapp: Monster Kaboul could be anything

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is delighted to be working with Younes Kaboul.

Redknapp admits he tried to sign Kaboul and Arsenal fullback Bacary Sagna while in charge of Portsmouth.

He told the Telegraph: "I tried to sign Younes Kaboul when he was at Auxerre - him and Bacary Sagna - and went back to his house after a game. I remember drinking Moroccan tea with his parents for about three hours. I had the worst car I've ever had to take me back to Paris.

"Then he went to Tottenham. We couldn't get him to Portsmouth, but then obviously I took him from Tottenham because he had a bit of a disaster here. There was something that made you think - he's got everything, this kid, but can he put it all together?

"I took the chance and brought him back from Portsmouth to here. It's probably confidence. For the first time he feels he's an important player.

"He's a monster: he's fantastic in the air, he's quick as lightning, he's strong. He's got in the French squad, the French team, and he's looking a good player. Hopefully he's cut out the silly errors he could make. He could switch off. Again he's a really good lad."
