Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is considering a shock move for former Arsenal captain William Gallas. The London Evening Standard says Redknapp is considering signing former Arsenal skipper Gallas to solve his defensive crisis.
Redknapp is desperate to get a centre-half by the end of the month because of concerns over the fitness of Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate.
That has led him to weighing up a shock move for Gallas, who is now a free agent after failing to agree a new deal at Arsenal this summer.
Gallas, who turns 33 next week, has attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe but it is believed that his high wage demands of up to £90,000 a week have prevented a deal being done.
It is sure to be a major obstacle for Redknapp to overcome as well because Tottenham are unwilling to pay huge amounts on salaries, with the top earners at White Hart Lane getting around £65,000 a week.
