Tottenham boss Redknapp: Lennon will make World Cup

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp expects Aaron Lennon to be fit for the World Cup.

A return to action at this stage would give Lennon plenty of time to regain match sharpness before heading off to South Africa this summer with England.

"Aaron has been working on his fitness and should be OK for the World Cup," Redknapp told the News of the World.

"If Fabio Capello rings and asks me about Aaron, I'll say he should be in good shape for the summer.

"That is great news for England, especially after the loss of David Beckham. Aaron can become a major player for England in the World Cup finals. But before that we need him for our run-in.

"We have an FA Cup semi-final coming up then our remaining league games as we push for fourth place.

"So first and foremost we want Aaron back for us - and hopefully some good games under his belt will then get him in great shape for the World Cup with England."
